101st Airborne Division Roster Ww2
101st Airborne Division Roster WW2
The 101st Airborne Division was one of the elite airborne units of the United States Army during World War II. It was activated on August 16, 1942, at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, and trained under Major General William C. Lee, who is known as the "father of the airborne". The division consisted of two parachute infantry regiments (the 501st and the 502nd) and one glider infantry regiment (the 327th), along with supporting units such as artillery, engineers, medical, and signal battalions. The division's nickname, "Screaming Eagles", was derived from its shoulder patch, which featured a white eagle's head on a black shield. The word "Airborne" was added to the top of the insignia in gold letters.
